Shaka

Saturday, 17th September at 12:48 pm by Bubble

With loads of speed pick a steep piece of chop
Carve into it hard with sail back
Once airborn try and lean your body in the gap between the mast and nose
Keep looking upwind
Land in same position as a flaka

Hi there…
Very nice site!!!
I am a freestyle sailor from Greece Athens. I have already stand spock, grubby, flaka and at this time I try for shaka. Is there any tip for easy take off??? (the first part off the move)
Sorry about my English

Thanks in advance

Hi Vasilis hows it going?  Sounds like your sailing very well!  For the shaka you have to carve really hard into the wave and you must put the mast exactly into the wind with the sail horizontal (flat).

If you push too much with your back hand you will get blown backwards like a push loop and if you push your front hand down too much you will land on the sail.  The mast must go straight into the wind.

Good luck

Andy Thanks for your immediate response. We plan surf vacation at Dahab for Christmas, so maybe we meet there or at Leykada – Vasiliki at summer.

Aloha, Vasilis
