Duck Gybe

Monday, 10th October at 10:33 am by Bubble

The Duck Gybe is a nice fluid manouever and a great progression from the carve gybe.  Ideal kit size is between 4.7 and 6.0 on nice flat water - like here in Dahab!

Preparation - Back hand down, back foot out and place in front of back strap, unhook and hang off boom

Bear away until the sail goes light - VERY IMPORTANT!!

Slide back hand even further down the boom in preparation for the duck and start the carve

Push sail forward and grab the clew - looking at it will help

Allow mast to swing towards you and look in front of the harness lines where you are aiming to catch

Throw the sail OPEN! and not behind you!

Catch the boom, keep hips to the inside to keep the board carving, change your feet and STAY LOW!

Preparation - back hand down, back foot out, hang off boom
Bear away until the sail goes light
Throw the sail open
Stay low
