Sylt Update

Firstly apologies for not updating the site for a couple of weeks!  I know its pretty slack but i have been having a few issues with my movie making program and therefore haven’t managed to get the new video out in time.  But don’t worry, i am learning the ways of a new more advanced program so hopefully in the next few days the new vid will be up.

The wind over here in Sylt has started picking up so hopefully we might have a competition on soon!  I have been drawn against Nick Warmuth from Maui which isn’t the best but its definatetly not the worst! But there are no easy heats.  Hopefully the wind will be a bit lighter as Nick is a bit of a heavyweight and prefers it if its more windy.

I will let you know as soon as we get some heats done and when the new vid is done.

British Freestyle Champion!!! Twice in a row!

Just a quick update on this years National Freestyle Championships at the Animal Poole Windfest. The conditions were pretty tricky with and moderate northerly wind blowing which makes it onshore in the harbour and with a high tide it meant it was super choppy and messy!

We tried a new competition format which worked ok because the wind was so gusty.  It was the same as we use in the indoor competitions where each sailor has 6 runs in front of the judges and its the best 4 moves that are judged.  It did work pretty good because you could wait for a gust to come before you set off for your run.

Simon was sailing the most consistent out of everybody as was Ben but i just managed to sneak through on my last 2 runs with a shaka and a 1 handed switch semi flaka which let me win by half a point in fromt of Simon!

Flaka or Taka?

We had a good day at Rhossneiger the other day and i started having a go at these but i’m still not sure if its a Taka or just a Flaka.  What do you reckon? takaweb.mov
