Well its been a full on action packed day here today. The slalom racers had the first day of races and also the speed sailors got their chance to fly down the speed course. In the slalom it turns out that 13 times world champion Bjorn is back on form and is leading the slalom at the moment, he was also leading the speed as well with a run of 37 knots but apparently he kept dropping in on everyones elses runs so he was disqualified!! Bad man!
You can check out the race stuff at http://www.pwaworldtour.com
Also i had my first taste of down the line waves today which was pretty cool! The wind was super gusty but cross of shore in the morning and then it went fully windy in the afternoon still with head high waves so there was loads of big jumps from Ricardo and the boys. I learnt how to do ponches on starboard tack which is a new one for me! The last one i did was fully planing and ankle dry! I also landed a ‘Burner’ whcih is a funnell into ponch, so all in all it was a good day!
The action and the conditions were so good that no one was filming at all!! Bugger! So i could be lying… But i’m not! It was an awesome day and everyone was fully ripping!
I will get some video tomorrow i promise.
Hope its windy were your are!
Cheers
Andy
I have got some new sponsorship from Rytons Air Vents check out their website - http://www.vents.co.uk Rytons are helping to fund my windsurfing career which is helping so much and without their support i wouldn’t have been able to go to any of the events. I am helping Rytons with their avertising as you can see from the poster. They need to advertise air and who better to do that than me!! Anyway big thanks to Roger Irwin managing director for Rytons for his support.
Well we made it here ok! Airports and flights were super easy with Thomson! No excess charges for the 200 kilos of kit that Simon and I put on!! We have been here for 2 and a half days now and i’m already buckled!! Its been 4.7 weather and then we had a nice 4.2 session this afternoon. The conditions are by far the hardest i have ever had to sail in, the chop is an absolute killer , its like sailing within a field of moguls! Trying to do any moves on the way out is super difficult. Only ponches and shakas seem to be the more successful moves to do.
The level is really high amongst all the sailors with lots of new moves coming out. Anthony Ruenes from France is doing something called a Puneta into Funnel/Cana Brava Clock thingy!! Don’t try and work it out! I will get it on video tomorrow and then you can see for yourself. Also Gollito is doing his trademark ‘Burner’ which is a funnel into ponch!
Myself, Simon and Jakub are sailing pretty good lots of switch satnce variations and shakas a plenty! Si busted out a clean backie today which ou can see on his site. Here are a couple of my moves from today. Stay tuned for more action from Fuerte.
Cheers
