Myself and Simon Hurrey are running a pro freestyle only week in Dahab on March 12th. It will be run seperately from the normal Club Dahab teaching program so for anyone wanting to perfect their carving manoeuvres and blasting skills, you will still be able to do that.
The structure for the week will be totally based around aerial freestyle. Starting from your basic Vulcan and Forward Loop all the way up to perfecting your Spocks and Flakas.
Please contact the Club Vass office on 01920 484 121 to book, price as advertised in brochure.
Note: FREESTYLERS ONLY!!

After a 6th place in the final on Sunday i moved up the rankings to 8th overall, which i think is pretty good for my first indoor event! I was the first Brit in the freestyle with Proffitt, Skyeboy, Kauli Seadi and Yannick Anton behind me.
I must admit i did enjoy the boat show very much but waking up in the morning in the dark, going out side and freezing your nuts off to then go in a freezing cold, oversized swimming pool and trying to do freestyle tricks with 30 knots of wind coming out of fans 3 feet away from you and then having the wind come back at you as soon as you were 10 feet away isn’t quite as appealing as waking up in the light, going outside in boardies and a t-shirt, then going out in warm water and having 6 hours of solid 5m weather!! Which is what its been like all day here in Dahab!!
I have added a couple of new videos from Sunday including a head cam spock courtesy of boardseekermag.com so check them out.
Happy Sailing!
I had a fantastic session this afternoon achieving 6th place in the first freestyle session! BEATING WORLD CHAMPION RICARDO CAMPELLO!! And a host of other world class sailors. I landed some clean 1 handed Spocks, a flaka and a Switch Stance Vulcan not quite nailing the full Spock. Gollito Estredo from Margarita took the honours with a perfect Shaka.
I will put the videos on first thing tomorrow morning so keep checking the site.
So its jump time and let me tell it was one of the craziest things i have ever done!! I had a few issues with keeping my board under control as its the wrong shape and size but i gave it my best shot anyway!! The first couple were forwards, then a crash, a table top, tabletop forward and another crash! Hope you enjoy them and laugh as much as i did!!
Well, who would of thought that doing spocks was going to be easier than bloody carve gybing!! I was terrible in the Slalom!! I was on the wrong board and so just slid and skidded around all over the place! Nik Baker and Matt Wemms were the clear standouts they both gave an amazing performance.
At 8.00 this morning we were limbering up for the freestyle trials and after my performance in the slalom i was a little nervous! But as it turns out spocks were easier than carve gybes! I nailed some clean 1 handed spocks and a flaka in the practice. During the judged runs i did a spock and a forward on starboard and i full planing 1 handed spock on port, i came out so fast i crashed into the end of the pool! I was also one of the only guys to make a flaka and thats including the guys that had already pre qualified.
In the warm up session for the guys that had already qualified the usual suspects from Margarita were looking good with various switch moves being completed. The French boys however, are like nothing i have ever seen before. Nicholas Akgazciyan was coming down the ramp in a Gozada position which is switch stance and bac to sail! Also clew first switch stance and some 1 handed shakas!!! Thomas Traversa, my Gaastra Tabou team mate did a huge shaka on starboard which was pretty amazing.
Jump trials later on today so stay online for any updates.
Well here we are at the 2006 London Boat Show and i have been checking out the Pool which is actually a lot smaller than i thought! In fact its tiny! I have seen bigger swiming pools in peoples houses!!
The Club Vass stand is located right next to the entrance to the pool, so its nice and close to the action, please come down and say hello to the guys and to get special deals on holidays.
Registration starts tomorrow and also the practice/trials for the slalom. I don’t get into the pool until Wednesday morning for the Freestyle practice and trials.
I will keep you all updated with whats going on so keep checking.
Oh yeah, and its BLOODY FREEZING!!!
